12/23/08

greetings to the lovely ladies of Jump for the Cause.

The year is coming to an end. I encourage all of you to take the time to hit your corporate sponsors up quickly for donations before 2008 becomes a memory. Remember you can do it again in 2009!

Jump for the Cause is moving steadily forward. If you take a look at the webpage www.jumpforthecause.com you will see that our lovely and tireless webmistress Dawn had done a fantastic job of getting registered participants up on line. Remember that there are TWO registrations. Once you fill out the profile you also need to finalize the official event registration--this give us an idea of the slot you are looking for and the suit colors you have.

Apologies to all for the overly complicated registration process. This is my fault entirely. I was looking for a fair way for ANY woman to apply for a slot on JFTC--hence the application. Then we thought that making you fill out your profile first would enhance the process--hence the second registration. Lastly I needed to know more information about confirmed participants--such as slot preference, jumpsuit color, and hotel information. This necessitated a third registration form. I now this frustrated many of you and for this I apologize. Believe me when I said it seemed like a good idea at the time!

The good news is that most of you have navigated this tangled web of paperwork with flying colors! We're well on our way. If you've paid Richard the deposit--either personally or via donations--then good going. If you haven't--remember your slot is NOT confirmed until we have the US $500 deposit.  We cannot order a jumpsuit for you without this deposit and your delay is in turn delaying the entire operation--Richard will have to contact each of you PERSONALLY and again this takes up time he could spend on other JFTC duties. If you are planning on attending JFTC 2009 then please pay your deposit. I'll be busy--both jumping and working on JFTC--in the new year but the quicker we can have a majority paid up the quicker I can start preliminary slotting of the event. Short version--the quicker you pay the quicker you can get a suit ordered. That's good for all of us.

For those of you who have started the process of collecting donations--thank you very much! Remember to send them to Richard on a regular basis. We're working with Dawn so that you will be able to easily access and see the amount of money you have raised for JFTC on the website.

Some update information on spring and summer events.

First and foremost--there may still be slots available on the California State Record http://www.skydiveperris.com/calendar/CaliState0109.asp  This IS a qualifying event for JFTC so if you want to make sure you have the maximum amount of training and experience available I STRONGLY recommend you join us for this record breaking event.

Registration has opened for the April 30-May 3 Big Way Camp in Perris http://www.skydiveperris.com/calendar/bigwaycamp0409.asp and the May 7-10 100 way camp http://www.skydiveperris.com/calendar/100waycamp0509.asp

The European 100 way and Big Way Camp set for 14-19 June is almost ready for registration. You can read about it (English or Polish) at
www.bigways.eu This is the ONLY 100+ way event IN Europe this summer and I recommend that those who cannot break away to the USA to seriously consider applying for this once registration opens. There will be an accompanying BWC for those that do not do the 100 way.

Big Way Camp 1-5 July Cerfontaine Belgium http://www.4xtremetime.com/en/pages/BWC.html While this is NOT a 100 way event it will still be a great practice for JFTC run by the same coaches you will see in Perris and at JFTC. Highly recommended as a warm up!

And of course the Men's record that will share the Perris dropzone with Jump for the Cause is now accepting applications on www.bigways.com  You (or your mate) need to register on the site first--then apply for the MWR (or any other events that might catch your eye). Ladies--have your men sign up for this event ASAP as there are a limited amount of slots available and we want the men supporting our JFTC women to have a chance to do these dives!

In January Richard and I will start asking you for your FAI stamps and National AeroClub information. Many countries only issue them from January to December.  The January newsletter will have information on how to get a stamp if you are a US resident and are a member of USPA.

JFTC 2009 is progressing well. We have women registered now from 24 different countries and the list grows by the day. I anticipate more women being added at each qualifying event, and I've even given notice to Perris Skydiving that we might need to get more aircraft--at the rate super qualified women are asking to be added we might easily end up with a larger dive than originally expected!

This will be a short letter--you know what to do and how to do it. In the new year I'll start removing those of you who have NOT filled out your registration forms or contacted us with plans from the roster and replacing you with others who desire the slot more than you do. You know who you are.  Make your choices wisely!

Enjoy your holidays--in whatever flavor or theme you desire. Surround yourselves with laughter, light and love and you will find that reflected back to you double fold.

I look forward to seeing you all in a bright new year.
