| Over Labor Day weekend, 1999, 123women gathered from around the world at
Perris Valley Skydiving for a dual purpose: to attempt to build a Womens Freefall
World Record and to raise funds for and build international awareness about breast cancer,
the leading cause of death for women between the ages of 35 and 54. JUMP FOR THE CAUSE,
the 1999 Women's World Record Attempt is the brainchild of Mallory Lewis Hood and Brad
Hood of Jump Run Productions and Kate Cooper and Tony Domenico of Square One and who
formed a non-profit organization to both fund the event and to raise money for the Susan
B. Komen Foundation, the nations leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer. The World Record was held September 1-6 at Perris Valley Skydiving. On September 5th, at 11:52 AM, 118 women formed the largest all female freefall formation and raised $500,000 to help fight the battle against breast cancer. Their amazing feat was seen on Local and National news as well as Evening Magazine, Real TV and GOOD Morning America! It took 15 jumps, 7 airplanes, oxygen and sheer determination, but the women succeeded! Congratulations, ladies! |
