Name: Nesta Chapman
Current Place of Residence:
Vancouver, BC Canada
Birthplace: England, UK
Number of Jumps: Just over 3500
Years In Sport: 17

Additional Hobbies & Interests:

I also love to ride my dirtbike & my motorcycle, climb, scuba dive, ride horses (when I get the chance), ski, snowboard, practice my martial arts and gymnastics, trap shoot, travel, and hike with my 1 year old Saint Bernard.

A Quick Bio:

I started skydiving in Oct of 1988, by myself, because it was something I had always wanted to do. I did 300 jumps my first year and was instantly addicted. I focused on 4-way and 8-way winning 5 Canadian National Gold medals and attending 2 World meets to represent Canada in 8-way Formation Skydiving in '93 and '95. during this time I became a Coach 1, Coach 2, Inst A, Inst B, Inst PFF, Rigger, Tandem Master and Course Conductor. I stopped competing after winning the '97 Nationals to focus on a career. I decided at that point to move to Vancouver and persue a career in the film industry as a Stunt Performer.

I had graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NY. Stunts was a great way to combine my love of acting and sports. During this time I was asked to participate and attended both the 1999 (118 way) & 2002 (131 way) WWR events. I eased off my every week skydiving to focus on stunts. I was just starting to progress when I had a big accident and broke my right foot, crushed my left and broke my back and both sides of my pelvis.

So I took two years off and after much rehab we have put humpty back together again. I am happy to say I have been back at work in movies like The Fantastic Four and Final Destination 3.

Why is it important to you to be a Participant of Jump For The Cause 2005?

I am blessed to share this wonderful experience with such talented and amazing women. They are an inspiration to young girls around the world in their accomplishments both in the air, and on the ground in their personal lives. I think it is a great opportunity to raise awareness.

Do you have a personal story related to cancer that you’d like to share?

I have lost my Grandfather, my Aunty Mary and my Aunty Kath to cancer. I have also lost my boyfriend, my best friend, my skydiving, sport and travel buddy of 8.5 years, Leon, to kidney cancer in 2000. He was at the 1999 WWR event with us. I am skydiving for them.

Personal Message to Your Donors:

Thank you for any contribution you would like to make. The City of Hope is a very worthy research centre and clinic run by some lovely, caring people. If everyone donated $1 we would easily reach our goal.

Thank-you Blue Skies, Nesta
