What is Jump for the Cause ‘05?

Jump for the Cause is a team of ALL FEMALE skydivers, as well as mail and female camera-flyers, technicians, judges and supporters, who are raising money to help increase awareness for Breast Cancer while preparing to set a new Women’s World Record in formation skydiving. The size will be 150, the location Perris, California, and the dates 26 September – 1 October 2005.

I was on JFTC ’99 or ’02. How do I get my invitation for the ’05 event?

No one is receiving an invitation to JFTC ’05 unless they have personally jumped with one of the organizers, one of the regional recruiters, or tried out for the event at one of the official try outs.  For an event of this caliber it is important that each individual is competent, confident and current prior to issuing an invitation. See below for more specifics.

How can I get a slot on Jump for the Cause ‘05?

JFTC is being structured a bit differently this time than in past years. There are several ways get a slot on JFTC ’05.

  1. Be selected by one of the regional recruiters. Each recruiter has been empowered to select the finest talent for this event from across the world.
  2. Be selected by one of the primary skydiving organizers,  Kate Cooper orTony Domenico.. Submit your skydiving resume via the website.
  3. Try out for the event. Over half of the slots will be awarded through open tryouts. The most popular are the Big Way Camps held at Perris Valley www.perrisperformanceplus.com Upcoming dates include 28-31 October ’04 and May of ‘05. Other events will be posted as they become available. Be aware that the criteria for selection will be very high.

I don’t know the Regional Recruiters or the Organizers. Will this affect my chances of getting a slot on Jump for the Cause ‘05?

The application process will allow you to list all of your skydiving achievements. Competition experience will be acknowledged, as well as large formation experience. There will also be an area for you to list referrals and recommendations. The best skydivers will be chosen for the task, regardless of whether they are known personally by the Organizers, the regional recruiters or not.

How can I contact a Recruiter directly to get a slot on Jump for the Cause ‘05?

For a list of Regional Recruiters, click here.  Please respect the time of these people and contact only those you know and have a good working relationship with. They will assess your abilities and refer back to the Organizers.

How much is the event?

Jump for the Cause ’05 is $2,500 in donations. This includes hotel, jumpsuit, meals and all jumps for the event. JFTC ’05 is a not-for-profit corporation and all proceeds will be donated to our beneficiary, City of Hope.

I don’t want to ask people for donations. Can I just pay the $2,500 and go?

Yes.

I’ve got questions about the charitable side of the event. How do I find answers?

Richard Seymour is our event manager and oversees the fundraising accounting side of the event. He can answer any questions you have about the non-skydiving parts of the event.  Contact him at richard@jumpforthecause.com

I need photos and/or have questions about video or media. Who can help me?

Mallory Lewis is in charge of both media relationships and this year has taken the additional responsibility of overseeing the video part of the event. Contact jumprun@earthlink.net

I think I might be able to get large sponsorship from my company or corporation. Do you have a sponsorship package available?

Yes, they will be available. Please contact Richard (Address above) for further information. These packets cost JFTC to manufacture so please use them wisely.

I’m from outside the U.S. and I have problems raising money for a U.S. based charity—can I get a discounted slot?

The organizers of JFTC feel that the price—and the goal—of JFTC are worthy investments both in terms of time and money. At this time there are no provisions for offering discounted slots to non-U.S. participants.

When will I know if I have a confirmed slot on Jump for the Cause ‘05?

At the latest, final invitations will be issued July 1 ‘05, although many people will be confirmed prior to that date. This allows the organizers and recruiters to give the most women possible a chance at both trying out AND the most time available to raise funds for the event.

I want to attend, but I have to arrive late, leave early or otherwise disrupt the harmony of the event. Is that all right?

No

I’ve always wanted to do large formations but haven’t had the chance to learn. Is this the right event for me?

No.

I want to do Jump for the Cause ’05 but I really REALLY don’t want to wear a pink jumpsuit. Can you help me?

There will be a limited amount of slots for non pink suits. You probably will not get one of them.

I already have a slot on Jump for the Cause ‘05, but would like to get my friend, girlfriend, wife, boyfriend, husband, packer,  involved.  Will that be possible?

There are plans to set up an event at the same time and location that will allow jumpers not actually on the record to both raise money and make excellent (and fun) skydives. JFTC will also need many volunteers both on site and before (and after) the event. Contact Richard or refer to the website for further information.

I have a bunch of questions about Jump for the Cause ’05 that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual skydive. Where can I find the answers?

Please wait for the website and bulletins to be published. A lot of information can be found on the websites (hosted by the main site) for prior years. Immediate answers to non-skydiving related questions can be given to Richard Seymour. Contact him at rseymour12@earthlink.net

Thank you for your time.

If you still have questions regarding the Jump for the Cause ’05 , the selection for the dive,  or the information above, please contact me at katejumps@square1.com and I will help to answer them.
